Had it this summer

It was not that hard to assemeble but you should have two people. Also a lot of stuff you do not need right away, so you can put it up in a short period of time and add things like the mail box later. I would not recommend putting the inside shelf in takes up too much room. Do stain it as they recommed. I had a wall made backwards. Was not fun to wait three days to get a new one, but they sent it too me no problem and no cost.Have spare boards now in case one goes bad.

really good product

I really do think this is a nice product for the money. I do have to say, the wood should be ticker, and there is a bit of work to do. Mine one suggestion would be, build a platform and a floor. I dose take more work but it look so much nicer and it will be around for longer, no dirt or mud. The platform and floor did cost us extra $80 but it was worth it.

Read Before Buying

Samaw at Toys R Us on 01/01/2010

I will admit that it is adorable. However, like others have said before me, this item is flimsy and you absolutely should pre-drill every where a screw goes that has not been pre-drilled. Myself and a co-worker put this together in 4 hours and we build adult houses for a living. The interior shelf does take up a lot of room inside but the boys wanted it in there. I would recommend putting it on the outside opposite the other shelf (you need it for stability.) Also, the bench that sits by the front door I moved to the side (could be moved to the back as well.) It crowds the front door and I worried that someone would get hurt running and playing in and out. The parts are not labeled and should be, this would really cut down the time to put it together. I liked that the ceiling is tall. I am 5'5" and can stand up in it comfortably. Can not do that in most. I would say whoever designed this either has no children/grandchildren or does not pay attention to how they play. Far to flimsy to last very long, taking a few extra steps will prolong it's life some. The stools should be made with less flimsy wood and rungs should be added. Our smallest of the tripletts sat on a stool and it split right in the middle of the seat and down he came and split his lip. It was obviously a defect in the wood. Flimsy wood will do that. It is almost like Balsa wood (they should beef it up a liitle.) Could have been worse, we were lucky. Bottom line if you purchase this product do it without high expectations.

made so cheap!!!! so upset!!!

This product is so flimsy it will never last. If it is left outside during a winter the snow will break it. I am so dissapointed I had got this for my grand-daughter for christmas and just put it together this last weekend and so upset it looks heavier on the box and in the picture on the internet and it is NOT and it is really small we had a plastic step2 and should have kept it. I AM CALLING THE COMPANY WHEN I GET HOME AND ASKING FOR A REFUND

Took It Back SAME DAY!

Danielle Mom of Two at Toys R Us on 12/12/2009

I and my adult cousin tried putting this together - first it took us ALL day long to screw in each and every screw... then at the end all the small pieces cracked and broke in half - needless to say this is a TOTAL waste of money and I am VERY dissappointed seeing that Christmas is now only 4 days away... :( BACK TO TOYSRUS WE GO!

DO NOT PURCHASE!

Besides the fact that it is smaller than it appears and it is very flimsy, this is made with EXREMELY cheap parts. The wood literally shredded when screwing in the bolts. We are waiting now for the company to refund us our money. Avoid this brand!

DON'T BUY

Get ready for assembly

Father of two young girls at Toys R Us on 12/12/2009

[...] They do this I'm assuming because there are some pretty flimsy parts that could break if thrown around. The instructions say 3 to 4 hours assembly time, but my experience was about 7 hours, broken up over a few days. I did it myself and the only really tricky part is getting the roof on. A drill and wrench is really all that's needed, but I do admit that I dug a little deeper into my toolbox than I anticipated. As stated in a few other reviews some of the smaller parts will split easily when drilled into. I recommend either pre-drilling or buying a set of smaller screws. In some cases the screws are way too big for the part such as the mailbox and chimney. I also recommend going solo on the add-ons such as the shelves, chair, and toybox. These can be attached anywhere and don't necessarily need to be where they instruct you to put them. One of the great things about this playhouse is that an average adult can stand up inside it, not to mention a five and two year old. There is not much ducking for them to get in through the door. This is one reason I went for this one as many of the other playhouses are much smaller in height. The wood look is also nice even though it isn't as solid as the pictures might suggest, but still better than plastic. It was 'broken in' one day after assembly by a crew of 8 kids from 2 to 10 years old, the older ones being boys and it seemed to hold up pretty well. Time will tell how long this playhouse sticks around but I'm thinking for my two little girls that it will do the job nicely.

Great Price, Poor Assembly Design

Dad CT at Toys R Us on 12/12/2009
Rating:
The price is right, but the assembly is awful. I am a handy individual and would NOT recommend an average person attempt this. You will need an above average tool collection. The instructions do not suggest pre-drilling most screw holes, I HIGHLY recommend you do, if not ALL your boards will split. The wood is thin and cheap, it MUST be predrilled. If you follow my advice and pre-drill, assembly will take TWICE as long, but the stability and appearance will be greatly improved. Identifying the parts is difficult as pieces are not labeled. This will also need to be stained every year or so. The price is truly reflective of all of these downfalls.

FUN...once put together
