To be able to understand why LEGO has been successful for so long, just look to the name. LEGO originally got its name from founder Ole Kirk Christiansen by combining the Danish words Leg Got that means play well and later realized that the word LEGO in Latin translates to I put together. The LEGO set became a standard of creative play for children around the world, unlocking the creativity to build vehicles, buildings, cities and more. Most historians point to the invention of the wheel as a major turning point in world history. The invention of the LEGO wheel had the same monumental effect in the history of LEGO, making it possible to create cars, trucks and eventually the LEGO train building set that is one of the most successful LEGO sets of all time. LEGO innovation continues to this day with product lines like DUPLO that was created in 1969 for smaller hands and still thrives. Movie tie-ins, such as LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Indiana Jones Adventures and LEGO SpongeBob are some of the most popular sets. The Sci-Fi LEGO Bionicle sets have a huge following but the number one selling LEGO set of all time is The LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Invention System. Over 1 million of these sets were sold around the world. In 2009 LEGO introduces the next generation LEGO Mindstorms NXT 2.0! LEGO currently produces about 20 billion LEGO bricks a year and has sold over 400 billion LEGOs in their history -- enough for every person on the planet to have over 60 LEGOs each!

| We have been buying Lego's for 12 years for the oldest child in the family. Although the next two children were girls, all three kids played with Legos. This new line of basic building blocks with a few speciality pieces is a wonderful bridge from toddler girl interest until she will be building bigger structures with the other sets we already own. Plus because it is Lego the 13 year old boy will build with the 3 year old girl. Agreed with other reviewers that a second set would expand the fun. | |
Finally! Legos for Girls!

| I purchased 2 of these sets for my two girls, ages 5 and 9. We have had hours of fun building houses. Both of my girls are "Girly Girls" and totally not interested in Legos until now. I loved legos as a child (I had an older brother) and I wanted to show them how much fun it is, These are now the Favorite toy in the house - over the Wii! We are now looking for more girly legos. | |
4 yr old love it! | |

| I love lego, but the one for little girls is so much fun. Very tiny little parts, so be careful with the little ones. I help with building the little home and it comes with a instruction sheet on how to build the little characters-- I would recommend for a 4yr old and older, only because of the parts. | |

| The was a big hit as a gift. It's very versatile and works well as a starter set or as an add on set. The girls especially like the pink legos and the flowers. This went very well since their dad still has his legos from his childhood, but they don't include any pink ones. | |
Who doesn't love Legos?

| The pink set is awesome for girls! It has pieces to make a car, and windows and doors. I do agree, it is misleading to open the great big box to find that it's not even 1/4th full :( | |

| This is the first LEGO set for my girls and they love it. It has quite a few left over pieces after building all items in the instruction book. I would buy it again. | |

| We love the pink legos. Very girly. [...] Comes in a large plastic container. Contains 216 piecess all very very small. Lots of tiny flowers. The legos could have been a little larger. Overall this is a fun toy but if you are starting a lego collction this is not enough to build much. Great to add to an existing collection. | |

| We bought this for my 3-year-old daughter and she loves it. I just wish it had more pieces. It is a big box, but there aren't many legos in it so you can only make about six pieces from it. Other than that, it is a fun and creative toy to play with. | |

| The product is great but you will be surprized on how big the container is and how few legos you actually get. The pieces are very small. We still have fun building with them but you need atleast three containers to make something. | |
